Our city needs bold, steadfast, and experienced leadership. I’ve worked hard to make this city a better place – and I’m ready to lead Gainesville as your next Mayor.
My journey began here, first as a Baby Gator then a graduate of Alachua County Public Schools. I have worked for small businesses in Gainesville almost my entire working life, and I’m currently channeling my passion for renewable energy by installing Solar Arrays here in the area. Right next to my passion for hard work is my passion for public service. Since 2017, I have served as your City Commissioner and twice been chosen by my peers on the Commission to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore.
I’m proud of the work we have done together to make Gainesville better, like updating the living wage ordinance and a Tenants’ Bill of Rights, implementing mental health professionals to respond with Gainesville Police to calls, and making Gainesville first in Florida for renewable energy. But like many of you, I know a better, more just, more sustainable Gainesville is not only possible, but necessary. We all know the challenges we face today: An affordable housing crisis, the dangers of failing to take serious steps against climate change, and a culture of political division where people are not listening to one another—extending from Washington, D.C., right down to city government. Our challenges are not bigger than our solutions, but they will require leadership that won’t back down to face them.
That is why today I am announcing my candidacy to be your next Mayor of Gainesville. I know together we can tackle our challenges and make all of Gainesville thrive. My journey has always felt improbable, but if you are like me and see these challenges as opportunities to build a better future for Gainesville, then I invite you to join me and let’s get to work!
